That is a great perspective. I think I have forgotten about real weather, living here in weather purgatory as Juniper calls it (almost always 60 degrees all the time in SF it seems). So yeah, I would drive a jeep over a Prius in Idaho too.

And thanks for the tip on the base jumping. That sounds awesome, in the true sense of the word. I have done many free climbs of urban structures (bridges, roller coasters, etc), but have yet to let go. Rock on with the free fall!

Best regards,

--Ethersmith

You're right that Twin Falls (and most of Idaho) suffers from being culturally sheltered. However, I'll point out that the term 'practical' depends on context. A practical car in Costa Rica will differ greatly from a practical car in Alaska. After enduring many winters in Idaho, I'd much rather be driving that Jeep than a Prius. Having said that, the Hummer is an excessive douche-mobile, no matter where you live.

A side-note about Twin Falls, the bridge in your photograph is the only man-made structure in the U.S. that still allows year-round BASE jumping without a permit. Planning to jump it in the spring.

Enjoy your blog. Keep up the posts.
